CLOTHING TIPS

   

May is the early summer in Taiwan.The normal temperature is around 30¢J or higher, we strongly recommended thin clothes and short sleeves.However, all the conference rooms is air-conditioned and will be rather cold, a jacket will be useful.For formal dinner on May 27, please dress formal and arrive on 17:50 at the formal dinner venue. For post-conference tour, it is recommended to wear comfortable cotton clothes. A hat to prevent sunshine is recommended.

WEATHER

   

May is near the raining season in Taiwan.It is better to bring an umbrella with you.The temperature is around 30¢J or higher. A hat will be useful to protect the sunshine. May 28 is the Dragon Boat Festival in Taiwan and it is a good sightseeing view around the Ambassador Hotel. Dragon Boat Festival is highlighted by the dragon boat race and eating rice dumpling.

     
 

ELECTRICITY

   

Electricity is 110V and use flat two pin plugs without an earth line.

     
 

LANGUAGE

   

Mandarin and Taiwanese is the major language in Taiwan. Basic English conversation should be communicable in most public areas such as department store, hotels, and banks.

     
 

CURRENCY

   

The currency in Taiwan is New Taiwanese Dollars (NT).The currency rate is around US$1=NT$33.2 (but it may fluctuate with time).Normal banking hours are from09:00-15:30Monday to Friday.Since May 28-31 is our Dragon Boat holidays, all the banks will close during the festival.Currency exchange centres operate in most major hotels including holidays.

     
 

INTERNET

   

There will be a internet room set at room S107 for ASPAC delegates to surfing on the web.Wireless network is available in conference rooms for personal notebook to surfing on the web.

     
 

SMOKING

   

Smoking is prohibited in all public areas, on public transport, and in most restaurants.

     
 

TELEPHONE

   

The incoming number for Taiwan from overseas is prefixed by 886 and then drop the 0.For overseas dial 002 and then the country code and the number.

     
  TRAFFIC FROM AIRPORT TO AMBASSADOR HOTEL
   

1. Book the hotel shuttle bus.
2. Taxi service is available outside the arrival hall.Fares are around NT$260-300 to Ambassador Hotel.
3. Take KMRT red line to Central Park and transfer by bus 25 to LoveRiver station.
4. Take KMRT red line to Formosa Boulevard station and transfer orange line to City Council station, and then walk around 10 minutes to Ambassador Hotel.
