Collaborative Innovation and Partnership.

May 26-29, 2009
Hosted by National Science and Technology Museum Taiwan, (R.O.C)

In a world of rapid change, science centres and museums need to be continually innovative, developing new approaches to presenting cutting-edge science, to designing and delivering programs which engage their communities according to their learning interests, and to applying new communications technologies to extend their reach. Successful innovations offer more than novelty value, they offer real benefits that address real needs and issues of individuals, communities and economies. By building collaborative relationships with other science centres and museums in the region, with private enterprises as well as universities, we can sustain and grow our capacity to address the needs of our society.

Regional science centre networks have always been an important way to facilitate dialogue and cooperation among science centres and museums. How can we further develop our cooperation and coordination to enhance our individual and collective impacts?

Comparing Approaches is the first of a series of five workshops called Fundamentals of Inquiry, which were developed by the Institute for Inquiry at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. In this three and half hour workshop participants will discover that there is not one monolithic model of hands-on science and that the approach taken helps to facilitate the learning goals.

Process Skills Workshop by Petrosains
Process Skills workshop is the second of five workshops on the Fundamentals of Inquiry developed by Institute of Inquiry Exploratorium Science Centre, San Francisco USA. In this three and a half hour workshop participants work to develop their understanding of the central role of the process skills in learning scientific concepts. Participants will apply these skills as they do the activities. Science center educators as well as teachers can help learners further develop these skills whether in formal or informal settings.
